Grandmother, n. 1. the mother of one's father or mother. 2. a female ancestor
Just a minute while I gather my composure.....*laughing*
phew...nope, just one more minute....*giggle*
oh goodness....*sigh* (wiping tears from my cheeks)
Okay....
Okay, I think I have pulled it together enough now.
Let me explain my uncontrollable fit of laughter.
Seriously?!
This is the definition for Grandmother?!
I try to relate this to the my personal experience right now and I can't keep from
losing it!
Let me see if I can give you my own personal definition of "Grandmother."
Grandmother, n. 1. Mother of the amazing young woman that gave birth to the most beautiful baby that has ever, ever graced this earth. (besides her own, of course)
2. Woman that becomes nothing but rolling tears, giant smiles and uncontrollable giggles when handed this amazing baby for the first time (and every time after that)
3. Middle aged lady that has suddenly become unable to speak the human language and has developed a new one. A language in which the word NO has been completely and undeniably replaced with YES and OF COURSE YOU CAN.
Her voice has gone up at least one octave, if not two or three, with what can only be described as "gurblings."
4. Lady that has an open check book just waiting for a reason to buy said grandbaby pretty much anything that she glances at or slobers on.
5. Female human being that can physically become a puddle on the floor when she hears grandbaby coo, goo, giggle, burp, poot, blow rasberries, cry, scream, yell, sigh, snort, giggle, and most assuredly when she hears the soft breathing while snuggling her sleeping grandbaby.
6. Woman that has trouble bending over to pick up a piece of dog food on the floor and yet, when the grandbaby cries, is able to leap tall buildings, knock down large men, kick chairs out of the way and swoop down to pick up the baby in record breaking time. A Grandmother on a mission can make an Olympic athlete look pitiful!
7. A Mother that truly believed she could never love another child as much as she loves her own children...then discovers that there is a whole other love that God has stored up for her.
A love that makes her heart swell, and her eyes sparkle because her precious child has a precious child of her own. The Grandmother can look in the eyes of that beautiful baby and see pieces of all the people that she adores joined together with the new family that has entered in her daughter's life.
No, sorry...the word Grandmother is just way to stuffy for me.
I guess this is why I'm Ducky.
